About Pat Wagner
Pat Wagner enjoys capturing abstract forms in nature through artfully enhanced photographs. If you look at the enlargements of her photographs, you'll notice she often takes photography to a new level by inserting dots, dashes, patches and squiggly lines to create intriguing patterns that have their own special beauty. Her goal as a fine art photographer is to portray the fascinating play of light on form to communicate the beauty she experiences.
She is also a painter. One of her portraits was published in North Light's Publisher's 2018 book, AcrylicWorks 5, and she won the Bold Brush award for outstanding watercolor in April 2017. She also recently won an award at the 2017 Pennsylvania Watercolor Society show. Pat's cover artwork for World Vision International magazine was named the best original art out of all Christian magazine covers one year at the Evangelical Press Association Annual Awards Ceremony in Chicago.
She taught art at Biola University in La Mirada, California, for a period of time. Pat worked as a freelance designer and illustrator but now has time to pursue her own unique vision.
She traveled to southern Mexico and slept overnight in a hammock supported between two trees. She enjoyed painting the magnificent landscapes of Papua New Guinea while she lived on that exotic island for fifteen months. She also traveled to Israel.
Pat has sold many paintings online and has participated in numerous art shows--both outdoor and indoor exhibitions.
She is a graduate of California State University at Long Beach, California, where she majored in drawing and painting. She took graduate classes at Claremont Graduate School plus evening classes at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. She also attended the California Art Institute in Calabasas where she received instruction from Morgan Weistling's teacher, Fred Fixler. Through critiques, via the internet or Skype, she also gained valuable art guidance from Frank Ordaz, C. Michael Dudash, Aaron Westerberg, and the Watts online Atelier.
She feels the study of art is a never-ending pursuit. There's more to learn about drawing and painting than can possibly be learned in one lifetime.
"For with Thee is the fountain of life: in Thy light shall we see light" (Psalms 36:9).
